Letters, 1861-1864, 1875, 1884.

Civil War letters, mostly typewritten copies, written by Dr. Henry P. Strong, Surgeon for the 11th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, to his wife Sarah at Beloit, Wisconsin, 1861-1863, describing army life and its inefficiencies with emphasis on medical care, while serving in Missouri, Arkansas, and near Vicksburg. Also included are letters received by Strong from Army colleagues after his resignation; correspondence and invoices relating to medical supplies; an autographed brief handwritten note from Bret Harte dated Morristown, N.J., April 26, 1875, giving thanks for a favor offered; an 1879 fee schedule adopted and signed by physicians and surgeons in Beloit, Wis.; and a eulogy pronounced at Strong's death by the Grand Lodge, Knights of Honor.
